The Faculty of Education hosted Dr. Ema Mamede and Dr. Anabela Santos from February 16 to 20. Both scholars are researchers at the Research Centre on Child Studies at the University of Minho, and their visit took place within the framework of an international mobility initiative aimed at strengthening academic and research cooperation.
This visit, made possible through the partnership fostered by the Directorate of International and Interinstitutional Relations (DRII) and the Erasmus agreement signed with the University of Minho, seeks to promote student and faculty exchange in strategic academic areas.
During their stay, the professors held working meetings with the Faculty’s leadership to share research interests and explore opportunities for collaboration, particularly in the fields of childhood studies, mathematics education, and inclusive education focused on students with specific needs. These discussions allowed for the identification of joint initiatives, academic mobility opportunities, and the development of collaborative research projects.
In addition, they participated as invited keynote speakers in the Lectio Inauguralis event. Dr. Ema Mamede delivered the lecture titled “Mathematical Thinking in the Early Years: Building Bridges, Creating Meaning,” leading a discussion centered on meaning-making in early mathematics education. Dr. Anabela Santos, in turn, presented a lecture on inclusive education for students with special needs, fostering a valuable academic dialogue with faculty members, students, and researchers.
This mobility initiative reaffirms the University’s commitment to internationalization and strengthens La Salle’s visibility and positioning in international academic settings, promoting sustainable, high-impact cooperation for the university community.
